Steps into Healthcare: schools programme
Across Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, the NHS is continuing to develop the successful Steps into Healthcare: schools programme. Steps (Skills, Training, Education Partnerships) is designed to increase the awareness of 14-19 year olds about the careers in the NHS. The scheme highlights awareness of the possible careers available in the NHS and gives students access to NHS placements a better understanding of how the service works. To date, more than 500 young people, six NHS trusts and nine schools are involved in this innovative programme, which ranges from offering advice and raising awareness about the NHS, to work related learning activities
