Your child's first steps on the road to success

| Your child's last years at school |
As a parent or guardian, you naturally want the best for your sons and daughters.
Their last years at school can effectively shape the rest of their lives, so choices and decisions made now are very important - for them and for you.
Deciding on a suitable job or career is a vital part of this process - and it is here that TWEBLO can offer practical and valuable help.
TWEBLO is the local arm of a national initiative to promote work-related learning among young people. We work to enhance the career aspirations of students and we work to meet the needs of schools, employers and education authorities.

| How do we do all this? |
TWEBLO has links to some 10,000 businesses in Tyne & Wear. Many of these companies offer work placements that are extremely valuable because they give our children a real taste of working life. We arrange for other businesses to send their employees into classrooms to share their experiences with students. Companies often work with students on specific projects and they present challenges designed to test initiative and problem-solving skills.
We help arrange visits to factories and offices, again designed to give our children a taste of real working life.
Because TWEBLO is a central point of contact for businesses and schools, we offer a lot of back up and support.

| Checks |
Before any visit takes place, we check thoroughly to ensure that the activities taking place - and the organisations involved - are suitable.
We check that all health and safety requirements are met and we make sure that every activity - whether in school or in the workplace - is both relevant and instructive.
Above all else, we aim to make sure your sons and daughters are able to make the best and most informed choices when planning their future careers.

| Get involved! |
You have an important role to play in all these activities.
For example, make sure you talk to your children about their aspirations and their hopes for the future. Share your own working experiences with them. Talk to your employers about getting your company involved with TWEBLO and the many programmes we offer.
